Tip of the Week – Find a New Author

Captivating New Authors!

Have you ever found an author that you enjoy so much you start reading every book they’ve written, one after the other?  Cold winter nights are the perfect time to curl up with a good book in front of a fire.  Two authors who might fall into this category are Philippa Gregory and Jodi Picoult.

Philippa Gregory has chronicled the lives of the wives of King Henry VIII in page turning novels of historical fiction.  There’s intrigue, spice, politics, and suspense on every page.  Start with The Constant Princess, then delve into The Other Boleyn Girl, The Boleyn Inheritance, The Virgin’s Lover, and finally The Queen’s Fool.  You won’t be able to put these books down!

Jodi Picoult is at the other end of the spectrum.  The themes of her novels are pulled straight from modern, controversial or topical issues.  Try My Sisters Keeper, the story of a young girl whose parents used genetic engineering to create a donor match for her sickly older sister, or Vanishing Acts, the tale of a father who kidnaps his daughter and starts a new life and all that transpires when the truth is told.  If you’re hooked, also consider reading The Pact or Salem Falls.  While you’re quickly turning the pages, you’ll also be challenged by moral conflicts that will get you thinking!

Do you have a favorite author?  I’d love to know.
