Tip of the Week: Add Busy Bee Lifestyle to Your Computer’s Homepage!

I am FAR from computer savvy, so it is very fortunate that when it comes to Busy Bee, my partner allows me to do what I love – write – while she handles all of the technical details! And at home, my teenage daughter continually provides the answers to my computer questions! But, there is one tricky thing that I have been able to accomplish on my laptop and I wanted to share it with Busy Bee readers!

The homepage on my laptop was originally the basic Google opening screen – the same screen that you would pull up by typing in www.google.com. With some help from my daughter, I changed my homepage to iGoogle – a screen that offers tons of information, right at your fingertips. For example, there are “blocks” of information for date, time, local weather, movie times, CNN and more. You can also customize your screen with tabs for cooking, entertainment, art, sports and so on.

BUT, here’s the best part! You can add Busy Bee Lifestyle to one of those blocks on your iGoogle homepage with no effort at all, allowing you to view the three most recent articles on the site every time you log on!

Here’s what to do:

  1. If Google is not your home page, go to google.com. When the first screen appears, look at the top right corner and click on “iGoogle.”
  2. Sign into your Google account, if you already have one. If you don’t already have an account, create a new account. There is no cost for an account.
  3. This will bring up the iGoogle home page with its preset information blocks and choices for many more! Preset blocks that don’t appeal to you can be deleted.
  4. Now go to Subscribe to Busy Bee Lifestyle Updates and simply “subscribe” to the updates that you want!
  5. That’s it! When you go back to your newly created iGoogle home page, you’ll find a small box listing three of Busy Bee’s latest (and greatest!) articles! The list of articles will be updated regularly!
  6. Once you have made some selections, locate “add stuff” on the right side of the page. Click on “add stuff” and you’ll be directed to additional choices for customizing your page.

While this might sound complicated, it will definitely take less than ten minutes! And if you already have iGoogle as your homepage, adding Busy Bee will take less than a minute!

Please take this chance to keep up with the many articles debuting on Busy Bee!
