bb-maries-pumpkins.jpgPaint a Pumpkin!

Ordinarily, in the “Tip of the Week” I don’t revisit a topic that I have already written about, but I’m about to make an exception!  A few days ago I described ideas for enhancing real pumpkins in Fall Table Top Décor.  I took pumpkins fresh from the field and spray painted them in unique colors like glossy black and matte silver!   Another pumpkin received a coating of glitter.  All were trimmed with pretty ribbons!

But since then, my mother asked me to paint a set of pumpkins for her!  I decided to try my paint technique on faux pumpkins from my local craft store, where they were already on sale!  This worked out fabulously!  The plastic material of the pumpkin imposters absorbed the spray paint evenly and dried very quickly – and overall, more effectively than on the real thing!  The store bought pumpkins have stems that are a bit shorter than nature’s version, so I attached the bows with straight pins.  And perhaps best of all, your project will last from year to year, as long as you keep them indoors!

Take a look at my “champagne” colored metallic pumpkins, designed to coordinate with the taupes and browns in my mother’s home!  Consider giving this a try and add a unique seasonal touch to your mantle, coffee table or kitchen counter!
