Tip of the Week – Organizing Photos!

Tip of the Week: Organize Those Photos!

A point of chronic clutter in my home is the many pictures that we take, develop, look at once and then stuff into a box!  I always say that I will get the photos into albums or scrapbooks, but never get around to it!  A great solution is offered by 30minutephotos.  This website offers two different ways to turn your piles of photos into a few neat CD’s or DVD’s.

  • Shoeboxprints.com – for $49.95 this site will scan up to 1000 photographs onto CD/DVD and can do so in a specific order.  This means that you can scan photos in chronological order, by child, event, and more.
  • Scanmyphotos.com – This site provides you with a prepaid mailing box which holds up to 2000 photos.  This service costs $99.95 and has same day turn around.  While this site scans a lot of photos, they do not guarantee specific order.

Both sites require that the photos be removed from albums, clean of dust and adhesive (front and back), no staples, post its, or paperclips.  Photos must be bundled together with rubber bands and face right side up (very important)!  Vertically oriented photos must be on their side.  The photos can range in size from 3 ½” x 5″  to  11″ x 17″ and should be organized by size.  The websites have tons of details on how to prepare properly!

Consider this quick and easy solution to a big clutter issue!
