Tip of the Week: A Great Way to find New Music!
My family will tell you that I am definitely stuck in a music rut! I still love the same music that I grew up with in the 1980’s! (Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, James Taylor, Jimmy Buffet – you get the picture!) But the combination of my teenaged daughter and the amazing capacity of the internet have worked wonders on my appreciation of modern music! For example, if you click onto pandora.com, you’ll find a website dedicated to expanding everyone’s music horizons!
Pandora has examined the music of tens of thousands of artists, from old favorites to pop icons to the newest garage bands, identifying the unique qualities of each one’s rhythm, harmony and melody. Using the artist’s profile, Pandora then matches the music of an artist that you already love with a number of new ones! For example, if you type in Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick, Jr. is a new suggestion. From James Taylor you’ll be directed to Jack Johnson, from Bruce Springsteen to Coldplay and so on! Give this a try, and you can create your own personalized on-line favorite “radio stations!” It’s a lot of fun and it’s free! And if you’d like to know more about my music mind set, take a look at My Top 24 Favorite Songs of All Time!
Do you have a new favorite music artist? I’d love to hear!
