Tip of the Week – Take the Perfect Holiday Photo!
It goes without saying that we will all get lots of photo cards in the mail this holiday season, and we all also know that some of those photos will be better than others! For each gorgeous family portrait, there’s another that promises to be the stuff of future therapy! In order to avoid the latter, here are some tips for an almost perfect picture:
- Enlist Help – you’ll definitely need a neighbor or friend to snap the shot since your whole family should be included! Don’t you feel badly for all of those missing parents in holiday photos?
- Wardrobe Check – wondering what to dress the family in? It’s not necessary to match, but do strive for bright colors and try to avoid patterned clothing.
- Take it Outside - natural lighting, whether in the early morning or late afternoon, will ward off “red eye” and is much more flattering!
- Pose on an Incline – porch steps or a front yard hill will make it easier to fit everyone into the shot without blocking anyone.
- More is More - shoot more photos than you could imagine needing! You’ll have more to choose from when it comes to the final selection.
- Keep it Relaxed – encourage talking and laughing while the photos are being taken – not everyone in the photo needs to be looking directly at the camera for a terrific picture.
- Add Personality - whether it’s the family pet or a favorite doll, these little touches do add a lot!
I hope that these tips will inspire you to take your best family photo ever! Next week, look forward to tips on writing a fabulous holiday letter!
