Vera Bradley Designs, Inc.Selecting Beautiful Toiletry Bags Made Simple!

Shortly after writing about the items that should be included in a well prepared toiletry kit, readers asked for more specific suggestions for purchasing toiletry bags.

My first recommendation is the line of bags created by Vera Bradley (verabradley.com).  But while I love Vera Bradley’s bags, the sheer number of styles and patterns to choose from can be overwhelming!  So, to help you out with your selection,  I’ve narrowed the choices and made some specific recommendations for useful bags and great patterns!  I own all of these bags and enjoy using all of them for my trips!

Recommended Toiletry Bags

  1. Travel Cosmetic - this is a deep, round bag, with pockets around the inside rim and on the lid.  This bag will hold most of your toiletry items.
  2. Cosmetic Case -  you can choose a large or small cosmetic bag for your make up, depending upon how much you like to bring with you!
  3. Ditty Bag - this is a tall, draw string bag that will hold slightly larger items like hair brushes and toothbrushes.
  4. Jewelry Case - this is a cute small bag with multiple interior pockets for jewelry items such as rings and earrings.   Don’t forget to keep this case with you in your carry-on!
  5. Eyeglass Case - not everyone needs this one, but if you do, the soft case will keep your glasses safe!
  6. Travel Pouch– this is a new addition to the Vera line.  It’s a small draw string bag suitable for lingerie.  I don’t own this particular bag, but would like to add it to my collection!

Recommended Fabric Patterns

And now, how do you choose from the many lovely patterns offered by Vera Bradley?  My own bags are in a fun orange and yellow paisley pattern, but that pattern has now been retired.  Ideally, if you are just starting your Vera collection, try to choose a pattern that has been recently released.  That way, you can continue to add pieces to your set as you wish!  Some of my newest favorites include:  Yellow Bird (black/yellow), Frankly Scarlet (navy/red) and Raspberry Fizz (hot pink/orange). Monogramming

Consider bringing your new bags to a local embroidery shop for monogramming!  For the larger bags, a three initial monogram might be appropriate, for the smaller bags, you might just like to embroider a single initial.

Pack up in Style!

This is one area where going ahead and choosing some bags will provide you with ample rewards the first time that you leave home!  Pack up in style and enjoy!
