Wrap Up Your Child’s School Year in Style!

Whether we want to believe it or not, the school year is quickly coming to a close! Children so look forward to the last day of school and celebrating that day is easy and fun! Here are some of my ideas for enhancing the big day:
Breakfast at the Bus Stop!
- Start the morning by bringing breakfast to your bus stop!
- Load your wagon with enough freshly baked muffins and juice boxes for both kids and parents and pull it to the bus stop. Everyone will love your portable feast!
Thank Your Child’s Teachers
Take this opportunity to thank your children’s teachers for their hard work! Be creative and find a little something to send into school to express your gratitude. Don’t forget the special teachers and staff such as the school nurse, art teacher, or librarian. Some ideas for gifts:
- small potted plants
- empty clay pots with seed packets inside
- home baked cookies or breads
- summer or initial note cards or memo pads
- summer drink mixes
- pretty soaps in summer shapes like flip flops or sea shells (try the Dollar Store or Michael’s and Target’s dollar spots for items like this!)
- votive candles in summer scents
Don’t Forget Your Camera!
- Take a photo of your child with her/his teacher!
- Take a photo of your child with his/her friends.
Host a Party for Kids!

Start a Charm Bracelet
If there’s a girly Kindergarten or Preschool graduate in your family, start a sterling silver charm bracelet to commemorate the occasion. I did this for both of my girls and the first charm on the bracelet was a three dimensional apple!
Sort through the Year’s Papers!
When the day is over, sit down with your children and sort through the year’s worth of saved tests, artwork, papers and more.
- Decide what to save and what to toss!
- Do this while the year is still fresh in everyone’s mind – if you don’t get to this sorting quickly, you’ll never get to it at all! (Trust me on this one!)
- Store the saved papers in a large plastic bin that you can add to each year. For 3 dimensional projects, take a photograph and save it in a special photo album or scrapbook.
Make the most of this very last of full time occupation for your children! You know what the summer will bring!
