The 100th Tip of the Week – Read For Pleasure:  No Excuses!

There are two classic excuses for not reading for pleasure:  no time or no money!  But I am glad to report that neither of those excuses will work anymore!

No time:

One Story

I love (and subscribe to) the option that is offered by One Story- a subscription service that will send you one short story every three weeks, short enough for the busiest person and engaging enough for the most discriminating!  These stories are artfully designed, lightweight and easy to carry.  Standing on their own, these stories will offer fabulous entertainment and introduce you to rising authors.  (One Story, $21/for 18 issues)

No money:

There are so many websites dedicated to the art of reading for less!  Here are a few of the options:

Book Mooch

This site allows you to post a book that you own but would like to exchange for another!  A point system allows you to redeem books from the inventory after sending out your exchange. Postage will be your only cost!  (Book Mooch)

Better World

Books are sold at bargain prices and portions of the profits are donated to global literacy programs.  Free shipping and feeling good about your book purchase are bonuses!  (Better World)

Paper Back Swap

Hardcover, paperback and audio books are all up for grabs on this site which makes trading books as easy as possible!  Available titles are updated daily and the online postage program allows you to print postage labels from your own computer with costs as low as $2.23!   (Paper Back Swap)

Don’t let the economy or your crazy schedule keep you from enjoying the wonderful literature that is literally at our fingertips!  What will you be reading next?  We’d love to know!
