Outdoor Decorating for Winter!
(Note: Click on any of the photos in this article to enlarge)
After you’ve taken down your bright and cheery Christmas lights and tossed your dried out greenery, your front door and steps are probably looking a little drab! But despite the cold weather, it’s still possible to add some wintry appeal to your home!
Redress Your Christmas Wreath
Instead of taking down your Christmas wreath, redress it! Remove any decorations that are “Christmasy,” leaving the bow and adding a winter themed decoration! On my back door, a boxwood wreath is still in place with its original red bow, but now a pair decorative ice skates is the embellishment! Some other ideas could include white, glittered snowflakes or a cute snowman decoration!
Filling for Urns
- If you have urns or planters on your front steps, fill them with fresh greenery, white twigs and red pepper berries or holly! I cut the greenery from my own yard and sprayed painted twigs white, creating a bright, winter time look!
Another great idea is to fill empty planters (both hanging and freestanding on my porch) with cut greenery from the yard, along with faux apples and sparkling twigs from the craft store!
How do you decorate the outside of your home after the Christmas finery is taken down? I’d love to hear!
