Tip of the Week - Summer’s Last Hurrah!
It seems hard to believe, but the summer of ‘08 is almost over! In a season that brought us the XXIX Olympic Games, outrageous gas prices and an unprecedented focus on green living, this is truly the last call for simple summer indulgences! And since it’s really not too late, go ahead and make a quick inventory of what summer means to you and get it done! For some inspiration, here’s my short list of must do’s!
- Make s’mores around the campfire or grill
- Eat watermelon outdoors and spit out the seeds
- Put your feet in warm sand whether it be alongside an ocean, a lake or a sandbox
- Undertake a family adventure - even if it’s just for an afternoon (Earlier this summer, I wrote about choosing a theme for your vacation months, Give Your Summer a Theme, and then tried diligently to live up to my own advice! As a result, I have lots of terrific family adventures to recommend! Take a look at Summer ‘08 Adventures if you’d like the full run down on our East Coast adventures!)
- Read a fabulous book (and if you’re stuck for a title, head to whatshouldireadnext.com where you can enter the title and author of your most recent favorite read and receive an uncannily personalized list of suggestions!)
- Relax in a hammock, chaise lounge, pool raft or beach chair
- Create a meal from farm stand produce
- Declare a “sleep in” day for every member of your family without a single scheduled activity
- Find more ideas at Savor the Summer!
I hope my thoughts inspire you to make the most of the last few days of summer! Steal a nap, enjoy a summer snack and savor every last minute of these warm sunny days!
