Host a High School Musical 3 Party!
The anxiously anticipated final installment of the High School Musical trilogy dances into movie theatres on Friday, October 24th and my kids can’t wait! Coming up with a fun party plan for a movie that isn’t even in the theatres yet is a bit challenging, but since this is my youngest daughter Annie’s own 8th birthday wish, here goes!
My HSM 3 party plan involves lunch and movie viewing at our local mall! Annie’s invitation will invite the girls to be dropped off at the TGIFriday’s that is right inside the mall where the theatre is located. After lunch, the guests and a few mom helpers will walk to the theatre. I’ll definitely make a lunch reservation and preorder the tickets through Fandango, knowing that catching a matinee will be a little less costly! Pick up will be right after the movie ends!
Planning Tips for Your HSM 3 Celebration
Timing
Since the premier weekend will be really busy, consider hosting your party on the following weekend. BUT – send invitations well in advance of the premier so that the guests will know that the movie is in their future!
Add Some Fun to Your Invitation
Consider tucking your invitations into red and white striped popcorn bags, along with a package of microwavable popcorn!
Bringing Some Style to a Restaurant
Just because lunch might be held at a restaurant doesn’t mean that you can’t dress up the table a bit! New, colorful HSM 3 party supplies are available from Birthday Express (High School Musical Deluxe Party Pack), as well as balloons and a table centerpiece. And don’t hesitate to ask the restaurant you’ve chosen if you can bring your own birthday cake!
Movie Snacks
Decide in advance with your child what you’ll allow the kids to order (or not order!) from the candy counter and keep it consistent! Consider limiting their treats to your theatre’s version of the “Kids Pack” – usually a small soda, popcorn and a tiny candy treat all on a card board tray.

I’ve never hosted a birthday party at the movies before and I’m looking forward to what I hope is a fabulous (and easy!) celebration! And after I actually get to see this famous film, I’ll share some “in home” party ideas with Busy Bee readers! Go Wildcats!
P.S. Don’t tell Annie, but I found a fabulous (and thematic!) birthday present for her available through Amazon: The High School Musical Playset for 12″ dolls! The set features the gym, classroom, stage and lunchroom, along with a secret rooftop area just like in the movie!
