Tip of the Week- Football Themed Decorations!
Football is such a favorite American pastime that whether you’re watching a small town high school or professional football team , the game is perfect for festive get togethers! I’ve written several articles about tailgating and have spent a lot of time thinking of clever table decorations for a football themed party. Just to share a few, here’s where to start!
With Astroturf
A length of Astroturf can serve as a table cloth, table runner or coasters at your party! Use white electrical tape to mark the field lines on the runner or tablecloth! Lengths of green felt will work just as well.
With Fresh Sod/Wheat Grass
Grab a tray and cut the grass (from your local garden shop or nursery) to fit. Decorate with plastic football figures (Football Guys Playset) or an assortment of toy footballs. Alternately, fill different sized clay pots with grass and “garnish” with tiny plastic footballs, super cute football lollipops from Oriental Trading Company or pennants cut from colored paper and glued to bamboo skewers.
With Creative Products
- Con-tact Paper – offers a chalkboard version of the old standby. This product has tons of really fun uses and would be great for a football party! Spread the roll across a table (without removing the contact paper!), use chalk to mark the yard lines and then leave extra pieces of chalk for guests to create their own game plans! - Touchdown Paper Template – this is a downloadable football field template that prints onto regular paper, along with a smaller, football shaped image. Once these pictures are printed, the uses are many! The suggested use is wrapping a stack of brownies, with the football as the gift tag, but these papers could wrap cardboard tubes and become party crackers, decorate a plain white table cloth or be cut into place cards. I hope these ideas inspire your next football themed party! And if you’re not entertaining this fall, these suggestions are also terrific for a Super Bowl Party in 2009!
