Hot Fall Fashion Trends for the “Over 40’s!”

I am far from being a fashionista, but some of the hot fashion trends this fall are pretty wearer friendly and not too difficult to add to your current wardrobe.  If you’re truly fashion forward, accept my apologies, but for the rest of us, here are five of this fall’s big fashion trends!

A Chunky Cardigan Sweater

These cozy favorites are incredibly popular and easy to find this year.  Take a look at:

• Mossimo’s swing style black cardigan also with one fun oversized button. (www.target.com for only $22.99) 

Whatever sweater you choose, look for unique details like ¾ sleeves, fly away styling or folded collars!

Coats with Colors that Pop

Solid wool coats in bright, bold colors will also add a lot of punch to any outfit!

Embellished Ballet Flats

This simple comfortable style has gone luxe with buckles, chains, bows adorning flats made of animal prints, croc leather, tweed and patent! 

• At lordandtaylor.com, you’ll find a large selection of stylish flats in a wide range of prices.  Take a look at BCBGirl’s black patent version with a large silver buckle for $59.99 or Calvin Klein’s silver flat with a jeweled embellishment for $98.00! 
• If you’re a bargain shopper, head to payless.com, where you’ll find the “Addie” flat in red leather, trimmed with a large grosgrain bow and the “Carrye” flat in grey patent leather and a large matching buckle, both retailing for $19.99. 
• Lastly, J. Crew offers such a fabulous line of ballet flats in metallic, glitter, tweed and tie print patterns that it’s hard to choose just one! (jcrew.com)  

Jewel Trimmed Dresses

Very popular this fall, these solid dresses, usually in grey or black, have necklines trimmed with either black or crystal jewels!

• If you like the concept of this dress, but don’t want to make a big investment, Forever 21 retails its version in black or teal poly/silk with a bubble hemline for only $22.80!! (forever21.com)  

Metallics

Clothing items or accessories in either gold or silver will bring an instant update to your wardrobe! 

• For a glimmering jacket, check out Chico’s leather version, embellished with four zippered pockets and a tab collar, guaranteed to jazz up even the simplest outfit! (chicos.com, $278) 

• For a touch of gold, the crinkled gold brocade skirt by Vera Wang for Kohls, is just perfect!! The skirt ties to the side with a dark brown bow and would look great with a simple top. (www.kohls.com for $53.99 on sale) 
• You can also add a touch of gold or silver to your outfit with a shoe, belt, headband or handbag!
