Quick and Easy Seasonal Decorating!

At Busy Bee we’ve had a number of requests from readers for seasonal ideas to decorate spaces like mantles and front steps.  If you do try to change your home’s decorations to match the seasons, it’s a pretty big undertaking and probably requires more time than you have.  BUT, I do have two ideas for quick and easy seasonal changes:

Glass Hurricanes

Take a look at the glass hurricane set sold by Lillian Vernon.  The set includes a glass hurricane (10” x 10”), a pillar candle (3” x 6”) and a dozen glass scatters.  The glass scatters are the special feature here and are sold in a variety of fun shapes that fill in the space around the candle at the base of the hurricane!  Do this carefully as the scatters are glass after all! (Hurricane with scatters, $29.99 for the set, but note that you’ll probably have to order an extra set or two of the scatters to sufficiently fill the hurricane.)

But the fun doesn’t end after Halloween – other seasonal glass scatters include:

  • Summer fruit
  • Seashells
  • Santas/stockings
  • Snowmen/mittens,
  • Tree lights
  • Shamrocks

Just change the color of the candle to match the scatters and you’re all set!  Your kids will love this cute decoration!  (Glass Scatters - Set of 12)

Glass Hurricane Candle Holders

Consider purchasing three glass hurricane candle holders, in three different sizes.  Choose hurricanes which have suspended holders for the candles – this allows you to fill the bottoms with fun, seasonal items!  Coordinate the candle color with your filler!  Some ideas for filling the hurricane bottoms could include:

  • Spring - jelly beans, faux robins’ eggs
  • Summer - seashells, something patriotic, faux fruit
  • Fall - candy corn, tiny artificial gourds or pumpkins
  • Winter - small glass ornaments, red/white peppermints

Give one of these ideas a try and your kitchen or dining room table will reflect the colors of the seasons!
