Drive in Movie Theatres

drivein.jpgTip of the Week – Go to a Drive-In Movie Theatre!

Last week, while on a Sunday drive, our family happened to pass by a drive-in theatre!  This bright, clean drive-in, showing only first run movies, sparked the sharing of parental memories with three kids who’d never even seen a drive-in!  We told the kids about the not so fabulous and totally not first run movies we used to watch at the theatres in both of our hometowns and how much fun it was!

I had thought that drive-in theatres were a thing of the past, but I was clearly wrong!  In fact, these summer icons are celebrating their 75th anniversary this year and best of all, over 400 of them are still in use!  To find out if there is a drive in near your home, head to driveintheatre.com, and locate theatres by state!  Featured films, theatre photos, concession descriptions and directions are all available at the website. zoombox.jpg

If a night out at a drive-in just isn’t possible, bring the drive-in home!

Although it was a bit of an investment, our family owns and loves our Zoom Box by Hasbro toys!  This portable projector with built in speakers displays DVD’s and video games on walls or ceilings in sizes as large as 60 inches!  We’ve shown movies on the garage door, playroom ceiling and on a white sheet hung on our porch! Warm summer evenings are perfect for outdoor movie viewing!  Share a bit of your childhood with your family and enjoy entertainment under the stars!

We’re big movie fans and enjoy going to the drive-ins. We have 3 that we visit in PA. We try to make it at least once a summer because of the distance we have to drive.
