Tip of the Week:  Celebrate Barbie’s 50th Birthday!

This is one woman who has aged fabulously!  Barbie, the toy icon, is currently enjoying her 50th year in our popular culture and her popularity hasn’t waned a bit!  Consider celebrating Barbie’s milestone birthday with a little party of your own, bringing together Barbie’s earliest fans, either yourself and/or your mom, and the little girl(s) in your life!

Host a Barbie Party

An all pink party is essential, as well as the attendance of Barbie dolls old and new!  Do you still have one of your childhood Barbies?  My favorite, if I still had her, would be Francie – I loved the Quick Curl version of her auburn hair and mod clothes!  It would be fun to see which of your friends has held onto one of her now vintage dolls!

What to Serve

Plan to serve:

• strawberries
• ginger ale tinted pink with a drop of red food coloring
• tea sandwiches
• pink cupcakes
• and use these fun Barbie Themed Paper Goods!

Fun Conversation Starters

Complete your party by drafting some fun conversation starters with questions that will bridge the years between moms and daughters:

• Which was/is your favorite Barbie?
• What setting was/is the most fun? (I’d say the airplane!)
• Did your mom let you have a Ken doll? (mine didn’t!)
• What ever happened to flat chested Skipper?
• What was Barbie’s best job? (Vet? Lawyer? Stewardess? Teacher?)
• Add some of your own!
