Tip of the Week - Grow Some Wheatgrass!

At this time of year, we are all thinking of Spring and looking for signs that a new season is on its way! But until those flowers are actually blooming outside, consider growing some wheatgrass inside! Some people grow wheatgrass as a cat treat and others to make juice, but I love it for its bright, fresh green color and decorating possibilities!

Where to Purchase Seeds or Kits

Whether you plant your grass seeds in a low, flat tray or in a set of small pots, with light and watering, the grass should sprout in about 7 to 10 days! You can pick up the wheatgrass seeds at your local garden or pet shop, from an online resource, or you can let Uncommon Goods do all of the work for you! The Insta-Bed

Another bedding choice that caught my attention while I was preparing to write this article was the Insta-Bed. This bed features an inflatable mattress, but is unique with a built in electric pump that is operated with a remote control. The remote control can inflate and deflate the mattress, adjust the level of firmness and best of all, raise the head or foot of the bed. Tip of the Week – Celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week!

This Monday, February 15th, marks the first day of Random Acts of Kindness week, a week designed to raise our awareness of generosity and encourage us to do nice things for others – not just for our family and friends. The idea is to “tap into our own generous human spirit and share kindness with one another,” while discovering “the power of kindness to effect positive change in our lives and the lives around us. When kindness is expressed, healthy relationships are created, community connections are nourished, and people are inspired to pass kindness on.”

What You Can Do

So what does this mean in our everyday lives? For me, it’s when I compliment the woman behind me in line at the market on her cute pocketbook out loud – instead of just thinking it! Or noticing, at that same market, that a shopper left an unneeded coupon resting on top of a product for someone else to use! It’s paying the toll for the car behind you or adding a nickel to an expired parking meter. A small and unexpected kindness can turn someone’s day around and be contagious!

Tip of the Week – Celebrate the 2010 Olympics!

Only nine days to go to the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver! The Olympics offer us a unique (rare perhaps!?) opportunity to watch television as a family, rooting for favorite athletes while marveling at their abilities and what it takes to be an Olympian.

And enjoying the games doesn’t have to begin and end in front of the TV! There are fabulous resources to enhance this special experience that only comes around every four years!
