A Bevy of Beach Bags - 2008!

Reviewing the season’s offerings of beach bags is a terrifically fun job! The bright colors and patterns assure me that summer is truly on its way and that before we know it, I will be taking up residence on my usual pool side lounge chair (even if my lap top is on my lap while doing so!) Here are some of the beach or pool bags that caught my attention this year:

Cabana Striped Tote

Of course you can count on Lilly Pulitzer to offer a punchy, bright tote in the preppiest of colors! This roomy canvas bag comes in lime, yellow or pink stripes with leather trim and an attached change purse! (inthepinkonline.com, $125)

Isaac Mizrahi for Target

This beach bag is perfect if you tend to treat your tote as a “one season” only bag! Made of easy to clean PVC vinyl, the bag features colored stripes in pink or blue, faux metallic leather handles and some fun hardware! An attached change purse is included with this bag too! (target.com, $19.99)

Printed Canvas “Box” Tote

Although similar to Lands’ End “boat” bags, this new version is printed in a really pretty damask pattern and sold in three color combinations: turquoise/white, navy/white and pink coral/white. The inside of the bag is treated with an antimicrobial finish to deter mildew from damp towels and monogramming can be requested. You can also pick up a coordinating swim suit or beach towel! Vineyard Vines Patchwork

Here’s a great update on the classic Vineyard Vines canvas bags! The new patchwork pattern beach bag combines dozens of their signature prints into an adorable patchwork pattern and finishes the bag off with waterproof nylon canvas handles and bottom! This bag might have to join my collection! (vineyardvines.com, $145)

Whimsical Flowers for the Beach

This adorable Juicy Couture plastic beach bag, sold in yellow or pink, is covered top to bottom with three dimensional appliquéd flowers!! Fun and quirky, too! (Bloomingdales.com, $95)

Traditional Straw Bag

Martha Stewart Collection Straw Beach Tote Sometimes the simplest bag is the hardest to find! If you’re in the market for a classis straw tote, Martha Stewart for Macy’s has the perfect choice! This well sized, stylish bag is woven of natural rush, with a vibrant poplin fabric lining and the cute blue or yellow lining really “makes” the bag! (macys.com, $39.99 reduced from $60!)
