Host a Camp Rock Birthday Party or a Party Just for Fun!

The buzz surrounding the television premier of Disney’s Camp Rock movie is everywhere!  My three children, ages 7 to 14, are all equally excited about the fun songs and inspiring story line.  In fact, I am sure that hosting a Camp Rock party will be in my near future!  If you are in the same boat, here’s an easy party plan that can work for your children too!

Clever Camp Rock Invitations

Sleeping Bag Invitations

Cut fleece fabric into small ( about 6″ x 8″)  rectangles, print party details on 5″ X 7″ paper and roll the paper inside of the fabric, securing with two ribbons.   Voila’ - a mini sleeping bag invitation.

Die Cut Tent Invitations

These adorable, personalized invitations from Fine Stationery feature a die cut tent, complete with fire flies! (finestationery.com, $45.50)

“Ready to Rock” Invitations

Focusing on the “rock” aspect of the movie, print party information on a small card and attach with a bow to an inflatable microphone or guitar! (partypalooza.com, guitars for $1.49/each, microphones for .85/each)

Party Menu

Plan to serve camp style fare (on plastic trays if you can)!  Some very easy ideas include:

• Hot Dog Buffet - dress up this camp classic with a wide array of toppings!  For ideas beyond ketchup and mustard, take a look at Hot Dog: A Summer Classic Revisited!
• Side Dishes - Corn on the Cob and Baked Beans
• Dessert - Traditional S’mores cooked over the camp fire or S’mores Bars!  For recipe, see S’mores Bars.

Party Decorations

Camp Rock colors are an easy combination of red and yellow - so balloons in these two shades are great!  Other decorative elements could include a small tent, performance area and mess hall!

At Celebrate Express, a full line of plates, cups, napkins, table cloths, and more are available!  But I wouldn’t be the Busy Bee if I didn’t mention that these products follow a pink and purple color scheme, which doesn’t quite match Disney’s red and yellow Camp Rock logo.  You’ll have to make your own choice on this one! Party Activities

Singing and Dancing - Since the movie is all about the music and concludes with the “Final Jam” competition, plan for a lot of singing and dancing at your party!

To encourage your guests, pick up “Camp Rock: The Disney Karaoke Series” for original performances or the “Camp Rock” soundtrack for singing along with the stars!  (amazon.com, $7.97 for the karaoke version, $9.97 for soundtrack and $17.97 for the DVD - check release dates for each of these products before ordering!)
