Get out the exfoliator, throw out the disposable razor that lacks the smooth strip but boasts a tinge of rust. Grab your self-tanner, lace your walking shoes and L-E-T-S-G-O let’s go!
Don’t mistake game plan for panic. We have months before swimsuit season has officially begun, but there’s no time like the present to clean up our under arms, buff our skin, slather the tanner and get a’ steppin’. Besides, you never know when you may be whisked off to Hawaii (pronounced ha-why-ee) for a romantic, mai tai infused weekend, right? Okay, a girl can dream, can’t she?
Gearing up for sun tanned shoulders, sun streaked hair and bare feet doesn’t need to scare you back into the shadows.
Step one – Exfoliate
Step one: Exfoliate. Clean and simple. May we suggest something a tad more sterile than the buff puffs at Walgreens though. I am a loyal customer of Supracor’s Bath Mitt and SpaCells (Bath Mitt pictured at top). I use them 2 -3 times a week when I can pry them outta my husbands Axe filled hands.
Step two: Lighten Up. Call your hair stylist and ask for a few highlights around your face. Nothing drastic, you will see I have listed Sun-In nowhere (well, except there).
Step Three – Shave, Wax or Laser
Step three: Shave, wax or laser your way towards June. Depending upon your needs and follicles, choose what will deliver the best results.
Fourth and Final Step – Self Tanner
The fourth and final step in the evolution to summer: Self Tanner. Less is more, test your upper thigh or belly before you start splashing it on like Jean Nate! And always, always wash your mitts afterwards. I’ve had orange stained palms one time too many. I’ve tried many brands over the years, but like Keihl’s best.
Enjoy and next time we meet I expect to see a ‘sunnier’ you.
